On November 24th I participated in the 2nd Annual Brooklyn Tweed Run. It was great fun despite the freezing temperature and gale force winds! We cycled from Grand Army Plaza, through Prospect Park, to our final destination; Greenwood Park.

For the event I designed a Victorian riding suit.  I’ve been wanting to design one for quite awhile, and this gave me the perfect incentive. The cutaway coat and full-length skirt are constructed of a pale teal cashmere/wool blend.  The back waist of the coat is detailed with tails and vintage brass buttons.  The waist-cincher is made of a fawn tweed accented with metallic thread.  I used a traditional busk for the front closure and lacing for the back.

My chapeau is a vintage piece from the 1930’s, which I adorned with ostrich plumes.  Lots of ostrich plumes. The fur collar is also vintage, from the 1930’s.

Thank you to all the wonderful organizers who made this event possible! It was lovely to see so many dear friends and meet new enthusiasts!

It was quite the Halloween season! As it’s my favorite holiday, I made it a point to get into costume as often as possible.

I attended the annual Dances of Vice PhantasmaGOREY Halloween Ball at India House.  This year I went for a Victorian look in black, with hints of emerald. I wanted to evoke the look of Gorey’s illustrations. A dear friend lent me her vintage Victorian cape to complete the look.

On Halloween Eve one of my favorite podcasters, Julie Klausner, performed at the Bell House in Brooklyn.  One of my favorite talking points on her show is her tuxedo cat Jimmy Jazz. When deciding what I could go as, in relation to her phenomenal podcast, the choice was simple; her “tuxedoed gentlemen” ;) I highly recommend following Julie here: julieklausner

For the 31st, I attended Sleep No More’s Halloween event, “The Return of the Mummy.” I always love a reason to return to the McKittrick Hotel. For this themed event I opted for an Egyptian Princess.  It was a marvelous excuse to wear my cartouche … and quite a bit of gold glitter!

Time to start planning next year’s attire!

I had the pleasure of attending the Bergdorf Goodman book release party for I Am Dandy: The Return of the Elegant Gentleman. As the event was a celebration of menswear, I opted for a tuxedo style jacket with a white satin vest, and high waisted black shorts. I finished off the look with seamed fishnet stocking and black satin pumps.

The stunning book, photographed by the marvelous Rose Callahan, is a beautiful depiction of modern gentlemen dressing with the sophistication of another era.  Each gent and their attire is artfully documented by author Nathaniel Adams.

Bergdorf’s soirée was filled with dapperly dressed guests, cocktails, and music provided by the incomparable Dandy Wellington. A perfect celebration for The Return of the Elegant Gentleman. dandyportraits

A phenomenal photographer and dear friend, Driely Schwartz, and I did a photo shoot over the summer, at Fête Paradiso. It was a truly magical setting to be photographed in. Surrounded by vintage Parisian carousels and twinkling light. Magnificent! You can see additional images from this shoot, along with more of Ms. Schwartz’s work on her official site www.peladopelado.com
